TS1398 can connect to itunes to update aps

When trying to update apps, I'm getting an error message that says "can't connect to itunes store".

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 5.1.1

    I'm also having this problem on my ipad 3. when trying to connect to the app store for updates, i get the message "cannot connect to itunes store" - i have tried logging out of the app store, quitting the app, and restarting my ipad. the issue persists - can you help?

    I chose to do the following and it solved the problem:

    Connect your iPad to iTunes. Back up and Restore your iPad to the original facotry settings and then restore the iPad to the Back up. When my iPad was back up and running, I was no longer seeing the message "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store" when attempting to update apps through the app store. So it works now.
