Q: Can I delete my old vaults?

I just bought an external hard drive and created a new vault so I can have an offsite storage capacity. Can I delete my previous vaults created with earlier versions of aperture or will I loose images?

A vault is a snapshot of the library at the time the vault is created or updated. When you ask about loosing images if you delete old vaults are you asking if somehow deleting the vault will affect the state of the library that the vault backs up to are you asking does the old vault have information in it that the new vault doesn't?

If it is the first case the answer is no you won't loose anything in the library if you delete the old vaults.

If you are asking the second question it's a bit more involved.  If you are only interested in the current state of the library then the new vault is all you need. If you had the other vaults to store the state of the library at various times in the past then of course if you delete one of the old vaults you will loose that information.
