Q: System 7.5.5 appletalk/ethernet problem

Hi

I'm trying to retrieve some data off an old 7300/200 powermac via ethernet connection, however when I select 'ethernet built-in' I get the error 'Make sure your network connections are correct'.

I've tried different cables (all of which work when I connect the other computer to a modem). I've made sure file sharing is on and permissions are set in users and groups. It used to work just fine but not any more.

Has anyone any ideas please?

Thanks

Stuart

Are you attempting to network the 7300 with a modern Intel Mac, using the 7300's OS 7.5.5 AppleTalk?  What model mac are you attempting to connect to the 7300, and are you doing so directly (computer-to-computer) or through a hub?

    Hi Jeff

I have a G4 with 2 internal disks, one disk has OSX which I connect to the satellite broadband modem via ethernet, the other runs 9.2.1. When I'm booted up in the system 9 disk, I can usually access the 7300 using the ethernet cable off the modem via appletalk ... but not anymore
