This is kinda scary I would call Apple directly and tell think exactly what's happening. Go to apple's homepage and at the bottom right click [Contact Us] and call technical support/applecare

For the updater to work, your existing Logic Pro application must be in the Applications folder (and not in any sub-folder), and it must be named 'Logic Pro' (with No additional spaces or numbers).

I also have this same problem. Can't install either Logic or FCP7 onto my Lion systems. I tried running under 32bit mode and the same luck. The problem with this is that it works when the software has been installed before the Lion os X upgrade, however if you make do a clean install of Lion then both Logic and FCP7 hang after putting in the serial number.... WHAT A PAIN as now I can't use either products!!!!
APPLE - PLEASE POST A PATCH TO HELP WITH THESE INSTALLS
