Q: Aperture 3 cannot be opened

Just bought Aperture 3 from the app store

However I get the following error

Aperture cannot be opened because of a problem

Check with the developer to make sure Aperture

works with this version of Mac OS X. You may

need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install

any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

I'm running 10.6.8

All updates are up to date

All file permissions are ok

I've also rebooted but get the same message

Any suggestions appreciated

Aperture 3, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Did you look at the crash log? If the crash log mentions "PluginManager.framework" not loaded, then you need to reinstall your Operating system:

    1. Navigate to/Library/Frameworksand delete the file "PluginManager.framework".
    2. Download the MacOS Combo update for your Operating System from the http://support.apple.com/downloads/

and reinstall your snow leopard system.

If your crash is not related to the  "PluginManager.framework" however, please post the first 50 lines of the crash report.

    Thanks Léonie

The crash log does mention the PluginManager.framework not loaded

I'll try reinstalling the Operating system

    David,

the missing "PluginManager" Framework is quite often caused by the FinalCut installation. So don't reinstall FinalCut after you reinstall your MacOS. You may want to have a look at this Support Article by Apple:

    1. Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3528

    Good Luck
