Just wear some sunscreen (I recommend spf30+) and sunglasses. You'll be fine.

I don't know about that.  Considering that the problem is really caused by Death Rays from Mars, you probably need at least SPF40 or maybe even 50!

    Nah. It's the Mole Men.

    I forgot all about them.

    That's just what they want!

True, I'll concede that SPF50 is better.

Depending on the sunglasses, you might be able to read the subliminal messages that are normally obscured. I've managed to discover "Stay Asleep," "Submit to Authority," and "Think Differently" on mine. I keep googling, but so far I'm the only one.

No need, just adjust your tin foil anti-thought wave helmet and consult the Mayan calendar.

Measured my iPad 1's screen. No radiation at all.

Guys, can anyone ask the poster of the YouTube video to post his iPad's S/N? We could build up a S/N database to fnd out which batch has the radiation hazard if some people have access to a G-M counter here.

Of course, there's no radiation measured.  Your G-M counter can't measure Death Rays from Mars.

Or the Mole Men's radioactive sonic untraviolet death ray. They are a shifty bunch, those Mole Men.

To the OP and others obsessing with this:

Seriously, there is no credible evident of radiation exposure with any iPad beyond what would normally be expected within the perimeters for a device that uses RF and similar transmission signals (which is lees than you woild get from a few hours in the sun, BTW). This is nothing more than urban myth. Stop perpetuating it.

    Hey, I'm not perpetuating it!

Thanks for the good work! I have taken some crash course on radiation recently as well.

This seems to be about alpha and beta radiation. As the posts in the "is the iphone 4s radioactive" tread explains well, some raw materials were stored outside of factories during the fall-out in the 20-120km zone around Fukushima. During the process of production these substances are integrated into the devices.

Gamma radiation is easily measurable as it penetrates easily any material. So even an internal contamination of the Ipad could be detected. This is not the case for Alpha emitters. They can only be detected when "sitting" on the surface. In such case it could also be easily wiped off. Isotopes that emit alpha rays from the ones leaked at Fukushima include Plutonium (distributed for hundreds of km; nobody earlier thought this to be possible as the material is heavy). That alpha emitters inside the device cannot be detected is no problem though, as outside of the body Plutium doesn't have any dangerous effect, the skin protects from it easily (even without sunscreen ). But be aware of not inhaling/ingesting it! 1mg is instantly mortal. Anything less still highly toxic.

I am however not sure what dangerous radiation is measured in the video on the Ipad 1. It seems rather to include beta radiation, which could also sit a little under the surface and could eventually not be "wiped off". Regarding the test you have done (you have a video?) - does your GM counter measure Alpha and beta emission as well? I can recommend Gammascout, it detects alpha, beta, gamma, German quality and not so expensive.

    Kind regards

I verified my ipad1 as radioactive emitter similar to:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT6qHaKFgGY

I also have measured several othe Ipad 1's with similar results, some were measured in an Apple store.

Apple management gave me a the run around when I reported the results. An Ipad2 I also measured in the store was not radioactive.

A YouTube video is proof of absolutely nothing.
