Q: Aperature Crash

I have a Mac Pro 10.6.8 OSX Snow Leopard; 1.5TB and 600GB hard drives and 8GB RAM. Using Aperture 3, I was editing my photos when it crashed after the third time. This time I lost the last 6 months of photo files and editing. I restored a previous period from Time Machine, but still nothing. What do I do now?

Well just as your Subject line indicates. Did you already do the following?

first read   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805

Reboot in Safe Mode.    Hold the shift key while starting the Mac
Start Aperture while holding the option key and repair permissions then reboot
Delete the user's (Apertures preferencs)    ~/Library/Preferences    com.apple.Aperture.plist then reboot
Use Disk Utlilties to repair permissions on the Mac

First read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
Use command + S and power on the Mac to start in single user mode then type   sbin/fsck/ -fy (after that type) reboot

There may be a simplar way but this covers alot. Let us know if there are still issues after the basic sets take above

Steve,
in addition to dbmoores advice, please post a crash report - the first 50 lines.You'll find the crash reports in the Console.app window, in the section "User Diagnostic Reports".
This may give us an idea why Aperture is crashing.

Dear Leonie & dbmoore
I performed Aperture Repair and Database Build, but still nothing. I restored the photo files from the vault which gave me me 90% outlines. I then performed Aperture Repair and Database Build again, but still nothing. Obviously there is a serious fault with my Aperture. My main concern is whether all my original photo files and versions are still secure in the library and vault?
Attached is the log report.
In addition: I carried out Safe Mode startup and Aperture + Shift. ERROR MESSAGE read: "The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements for Aperture."

Two things to note:

First of all:
Your error message with respect to the Graphics Card is explained nicely by your launching Aperture while in "Safe Mode": Booting in "Safe Mode" turns off many options that are essential when running multi media applications. Only basic graphics options will be available and you simply cannot run Aperture in this mode - at least I never managed to do that because of the missing advanced graphics options. Do you get the same error message while booting into regular mode?
Lost photos: I am not yet convinced entirely that your images really are gone.
Using Aperture 3, I was editing my photos when it crashed after the third time. This time I lost the last 6 months of photo files and editing.

How do you tell images are missing? Is the library filesize smaller? Are there missing projects and albums? Or do you see no images at all? Sometimes this happens if the User Preference file is corrupted or locked, and Aperture opens the wrong Library. I would try to launch Aperture with the options key hold down, to be able to see the most recently used libraries. Then select the other libraries in turn to see if your recent imports went to a wrong library.

And we will need to see a crash report with Aperture launched in regular mode, not safe mode.
