I have been trying to download Lion and I have been getting the following error everytime I sign in with my Apple ID:

'We could not complete your request.

There was an error in the app store. Please try again later (4).'

Does anyone know what is causing this error?

Firewalls and anti-virus software can cause problems with iTunes/Mac App Store downloads.

Some folks resolve download and other connection issues by using either OpenDNS or Google Public DNS services. The best use is to use it as the DNS configuration in your modem/router/gateway device, but often the configuration in the computer or iOS device will over ride the other configuration if you don't have access.

    Open DNS;,

    Google Public DNS;,

it happened to me, my problem was that I had enough money in the visa card, Ireloaded and everything worked correctly with this I will probably tell you that the problem is that you do not have enough credit to pay to complete your previousshopping on and makes you download.

try to check if watching all your purchases have been paid.
