Hello Everyone. I posted a question earlier and in retrospect I should wrote the condensed version (Sorry about that). Does anyone have any advice for processing speed and RAM specs for editing uncompressed 4:2:2 video on an FCP 7 Timeline or is this something I really have to mess around with to figure out. I won't be using many effects just maybe FCP Filters, Transitions, and some Color Correcting (Mainly). Thank You

Well... if it was me, i'd get a tower and right quick too because it appears they will not be making them anymore.

I've got an 8 core machine with 12 gigs of ram and it's as sweet as can be.

The real issue with prores is drive throughput.  you need fast drives (raid recommended) and preferably an e-sata connection or thunderbolt-- which I have no experience with--  otherwise the drives become the bottleneck, not the processors or the ram.

Why are you working with 4:2:2 uncompressed material?  If you can't avoid it, use mediamanager to create a lower res version and when you're done use mediamanager to create an offline full rez version and reconnect to the full rez material.

I've done this and it works great.
