Q: Logic 9 doesn't support 2 pcs or more amt8/ unitor8

Hi,

I want to upgrade from logic8 to logic 9 but I heard my friends Logic 9 doesn't support more than one amt8/unitor8mk2.

I have 2pcs Unitor8mk2 and 2pcs Amt8.

Anyone have practice amt8 and unitor8 midi device chain with logic9?

Logic Studio, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Make sure you have the latest driver installed. The chaining and the necessary cables are included in the box, the manual for the Unitor also explains it.

If you hook them up as different USB drives, you probably have to do some environment work ahead of you. If you just chain them, there is nothing else to do: you end up with on large MIDI interface.

Your friend is very wrong. I have 8 unitor/amt units running with Logic 9. Works like a charm.

I tried today, driver 2.2 not working but  update driver version to 2.5 solved the problem.

If you wish to configure your Unitor's and/or AMT's for use when they are not connected to the computer, check out my Unitor Preference Pane at http://www.unitor8.com

I wrote a more modern replacement for the now obsolete Unitor Control Panel software.

    Hey man,

Ive recently hooked up a Tascam fw 1884 to Logic pro 9 on Snow leapard, OS X 10.6.7. I have full control with Tascam over the mixer and controls in Logic, If i move a fad on the desk it moves the fader in logic etc.. If i move a fader in logic it doesnt move any of my faders on the tascam although they are supposed to be motorized. I was browsing logic pro 9 today to see what it could be. I went into project settings> Unitor  and it say's Device firmware (not recognized). I've updated all the drivers and firmware but it still continues with this message. Also could this be the reason the faders on my tascam are not moving when i move a fader in Logic??

    Please help!!!!

Hmmm - try resetting your FW-1884, I have mine hooked up and also have two Unitor8's and an AMT8 daisy chained.  Also try using a different firewire port, mine has only ever worked with the second port on the FW-1884. One more thing, go to Preferences, Control Surfaces, Rebuild Defaults, and of course, make sure the fw is selected in Preferences, Control Surfaces, Setup.

It used to be necessary a few years back to drag and drop a driver into the logic package file for the FW-1884, but I don't think that is true anymore.

    Hi Nathan,

You posted this quite a long time ago, but it might be helpful for me. You said, that you upgraded the unitor's firmware in 2012, right? Do you have the Unitor8 MK2? And do you still have the firmware as midi file? Mine has a problem after a power breakdown and I don't wanna throw it away.

    All the best

    Matt
