You should be able to do it with an AirPort Express
No.
AirPort Express is not enabled for AirPrint using the USB port.
As noted here -> iOS: AirPrint 101
"AirPrint-enabled printers connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported."

That will not work with an iPad printing from apps such as Mail, Safari, Maps, Notes, or other apps that print through iOS. It might work with specific printing apps but not with general apps.

No, this will not work with standard AirPrint.

Jul 9, 2012 12:44 PM in response to Chris CAby Digitalclips,Ok but here is a strange thing. My old airport extreme (pre dual band) with fully updated software allowed my Canon Photosmart 6510 connected via USB (and its own WiFi off) to work flawlessly as an AirPrint printer from three iPhones and an iPad. As well as printing from all Macs. I bought a new Time Capsule and set up the same printer with the USB as I had the old AE but ... nothing. I am told there are no AirPrint printers available. So the solution was obvious, I simply I attached the AE's WAN to the TC's LAN and the printer's USB to the AE again. Now everything works perfectly even though all the devices use the TC as their wifi connection not the AE. The printer now is available for AirPrint. The mystery of all this is why this was required. Any ideas why the AE works and the TC doesn't? Have Apple removed an ability on a newer device that was there before on an older one?
