Hello, i have a late 2009 Macbook air, and my hinge broke not too long ago and my hard drive had a problem and also some keys on my keyboard were stuck..So i took it to the Apple store a week later after researching what i should do, i came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2948...so i printed it out and went with it to the apple store, and the guy that helped was super friendly and told me right away that they'll repair the hinge for FREE, so it took about two days and i went to go pick it up today and they also fixed everything else, they replaced the hard drive, the keyboard..It looks AMAZING!! honestly, im very satisfied..but make sure you print out this article (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2948) and take it with you!!

Hi and please help me... i dont know what is the f&%$n problem.

Months ago (6 months), the Apple representative did not agree torepair my macbook air with broken hinges. A month ago, take thecomputer to another representative who immediately agreed torepair it, charging the diagnosis, but they told me: for the time fromthe problem to date has been damaged cable connection of the screen which has caused a problem in the logic board, so it mustbe replaced, which means more than 1000 dollars. What do I do?who claim? Why Apple is not responsible for their representatives?. My computer will take care to work and now I'mwithout a computer and unable to repair it.

    Please I really needhelp.

    Hi,

Does your mba still working fine before you sent it to the second "representative"?

If it was still working fine, maybe you can argue that it is the technician that damaged the wire because it is quite complicated to change the screen. Watch the video below and understand how they change the part and argue that it was their fault.

Anyway, you dont have to pay for the diagnosis. Everything should be free.

Hope it helps and good luck.

    Cheers.

Thank you, because I expected the first representative solved the problem, but it was not so.

Who claim for the value of diagnosis? ... there are any number ofapple? ... in all places I have heard that never respond to these claims and it seems to be true. I think I'll change to Windows, because at least one notebook PC is cheaper. I truly hopesomeone help me fix my apple macbook air and deliver a realsolution.

Just had the same problem with Mac Air hinge. Took in to my local Mac store in Kingston Upon Thames after seeing (TS2948) and was told I would have to pay £334.80 to repair what is in effect a manufacturing fault that Apple has known about for years. I was ask to contact apple support only to be told that due to the large amount of repairs they have undertalen they no longer repair the faulty hinge!! I was advised to write to their customer support in Ireland but was told it was highly unlikely they will help. I emailed the Apple Article (TS2948) to Apple Support that was last amended by Apple on the 24th Feb 2012 giving advice to Mac Air customers on repair, but was told advice does not mean Apple will be responsible for any manufacturing fault. It will be interesting to see what apple support in Ireland says especially as Apple has never undertaken a product recall when they first identified the problem....something are required to do under UK & European consumer laws. i.e. General Product Safety Regulations Act 2005, Sale of Goods Act 1979, The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002 supported by European directive 1999/44/EC.

It just happened to my Mac Book Air 2009, I've called the Apple Authorized Technical Support and told me that they do not fix this issue, at least not in Ecuador where I am currently located. They would not even change the hinge for the money! The only solution they've given me, is to change the whole screen with the hinges for new ones and that would cost about USD 600!!!! which I find ridiculously expensive for a Mac that nobody wants to pay USD300 for!

So I decided to make a hinge myself and see how it works.

Otherwise I will have to tie it with a rope or something to hold the screen on its place.

    Bad thing Apple!

Hi, Im not sure if people are still following this thread or not but here goes anyways. Ive got a mid 2010 MacBook Pro that seems to have started to develop this problem; are there any good preventitive methods to stop this problem from becoming serious? i.e. a lube or something?
