Intending to upgrade my iPAD 2 to iOS 5. It says it backs up setting, contacts, etc., but not books or music (etc.). Do I need to back them up or do I simply re-download from the various sites (I have iBooks, Nook Books, & Kindle books). Thanks

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.3

You can copy iTunes purchases back from the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (that will copy apps, ibooks, music, films, tv shows). Books from Amazon and Nook etc you should be able to re-download from their sites.

As a safety measure you should probably copy off any important documents and notes etc (e.g. via email, file sharing, wifi etc, depending on what the apps that they are in supports) - they will be in the backup, but it's best to be safe.
