Anyone have this problem?

I can only guess what you're alluding to, but most likely it's the "Resume" feature in Lion. When you quit an application that has document windows open, those same windows will reopen automatically the next time you launch it. To keep that from happening, close the windows before quitting, or else hold down the option key while quitting, or the shift key while launching the application.

Close all windows, then quit and relaunch Safari. It should open one window to your home page. Is that not what happens? If not, what is the setting for Safari > Preferences > General > New windows open with...?

The Comcast notice is a marketing scam. If you installed the software, I advise you to remove it. It's worse than useless. It's free initially, which is appropriate for a worthless product, but you'll be charged for "upgrades" later.

I shall trash as you suggest.

Be careful. You can't remove it just by dragging an application to the Trash. The installer spews files all over the place, and you have to remove all of them. There should be an uninstallation tool, or instructions for removing it.
