I am having the same issue on my iPad 3.  iTunes is virtually unusable and I am quite frustrated considering what I paid for this device!  I can't search for or even purchase anything in iTunes because it freezes, so I am forced to buy stuff from other places and then sync it to my apple products.  Ridiculous.

First off, I'd like to thank Ian for all his help with this iTunes Store issue. Keep up the good work!

Now I'm having a different issue: Ever since I posted in this thread, I'm getting an email notification each time someone post a reply. I'm trying to turn it off, but I can't find how.

I'm pretty sure I turned off eveything in the "Email Notification Preferences" menu but I'm still getting these and it's getting really annoying.

    I'm I doing something wrong?

It is not directly an iTunes Match issue, if you read the full thread you will see that it is actually caused by the size of your music library, which can be big if you use iTunes Match, BUT it can also be big just by the fact you have a certain amount of music synced to your iPad.

I can't offer anymore feedback on this issue at the moment, I have posted the latest news I had from Apple which is that it is an iOS issue (not specifically 5.1.1), it may very well be that a server change has caused the issue in iOS, but whatever the case I am sure they will be working to resolve it as quickly as possible.  They are aware of this thread and the number of people it appears to be affecting, they are also aware locally within Apple that the issue is real and needs sorting, as staff are also seeing the problem.

I don't know how long it will take to fix or how they will fix it (server change, iOS update, etc).

All we can do is have patience and purchase music via iTunes on a computer if you can.

I preordered an album last week on iTunes and it was downloaded to my iPad this morning without any intervention from me, I did not need to access the iTunes Store at all, so there are ways and means to still buy music.

When you are logged in and viewing this thread there is an Actions box in the upper right of the screen, one of the options is Stop email notifications.

I'm having the same problem on iPad2, iPhone 4 and the new iPad. I agree it started after the most recent iOS update.

Thanks again for your help Ian! I'm out of here now; hope they will be able to fix the problem soon.

It's been a pleasure to read your posts.

The problem is certainly not new to ios 5.1.1.   We were discussing this problem at Ars Technica back in February.  http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1166953

Nice to hear, at least, that Apple staff are experiencing it too.  Here's hoping for a 5.1.2 with a fix.

Have nothing to add; just adding to the numbers to ensure this issue is resolved quickly. :)

I could be reading it incorrectly, but that looks like a completely different iTunes Match specific problem to me.

Esolo - "I have recorded the problem and posted it on youtube here is link

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw-o87MCN6s"

I don't have a camcorder, otherwise I would do this myself. I don't suppose you could record another video please this time letting the album preview complete, which it does after a period of time?

Perhaps you could capture how long it takes to load a standard 10 (or so) track album and also something like the Beatles Box Set which has many more tracks. It seems to me that the more tracks an album has, the more time it takes for the preview to appear on iTunes.

    Cheers.

Driving me crazy, its so slow. i don't usually complain. I figure that it's tech stuff and Murphy's law applies. But this time the slowdown is driving me nuts. I really ish that Apple would say something!!

I find it odd I don't see the issue on my iPhone 4. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I don't understand why  Apple  doesn't make an official statement about this unacceptable degradation of service!
