Tried that, rebooted the phone - worked for about 1 day then stopped.

I have the same mic issue (like many others around the world).

I have send my phone for repair. After a few weeks they send me a new one.

    Guess what....

    It had the same problem!

I found this video on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jhWxYTVxe4&feature=colike

Although I did not yet screw my phone open, i pressed the back quit hard on the spot pointed out in the video.

    After that my mic worked!!!!

To me this seems like a real structural problem of the iPhone.

I have the same mic issue (like many others around the world).

How do you know that, since the OP made no description whatsoever of the problem, or what she did to try to fix it?  Are you really assuming that there is only one possible problem with the iPhone mic?

To me this seems like a real structural problem of the iPhone.

If you listened carefully to the video, the phone he was fixing had been damaged by dropping without a case, loosening connections internally.  Either your phones were also abused or you're so unlucky as to get 2 phones with the same defect.

I know at least 30 people with iPhone 4 or 4S who never had any mic problems, so I would not assume any design defect.

    Hi Modular747,

I admit that I cannot be sure that we have the same problem.

But saying that it is not likely to be a design issue (or an issue for a specific batch) because you know 30 people without this issue, is also not really sustaining....

The specific issue is that the mic is not working when having a phone call, but that it is working with other apps (like voicerecording) also putting the phone on the speaker works.

Obviously you are a experienced moderator of this forum and you might even have connections within Apple Support. So in spite of reprimand me, it would be nice to get a solution for this issue, which apperently many iPhone4 users suffer reading these posts....

Thanks in advance for your solution.

Out of the >50 million iP4&4S sold, these "many"  posters (even if only 1 in 1000 with the problem post here) represent a minute fraction of users.  You can find as "many" posters complaining about virtually anything, including the phone making them "tingle."

So, when you make a sweeping assumption that this issue is a real design defect (which isn't any "solution"), be prepared to back it up with facts.  3 threads with less than 15 posters proves nothing, particularly considering the rambling and vague posts I saw.

The solution is to not abuse the phone and get it repaired or replaced.

Apple made me buy a new iPhone - not happy since I own every product they've made and 3 other iPhones. They should have a loyalty program.

They do have a "loyalty program" - the out-of-warranty replacement price which is 1/5 - 1/3 the price of a replacement phone.   If Apple made you pay full price, it means you grossly abused or jailbroke the phone - good luck with that, dude.

If you paid the discounted out of warranty price and are whining about having to pay anything for out of warranty service, you have a bloated sense of entitlement.  Name one company that extends full free replacement warranties beyond expiration for ANYTHING, to ANYBODY.  (I'm sure you consider yourself entitled to whatever occurs to you by definition.)

*** is wrong with you?  To come on here and comment - what are you a troll that comes out to make fun of people?

I expect any company to stand by it's product. Except for the mic the phone works perfectly.  To shell out any kind of money is CRAZY.

    Get a life.

For the record I love Apple and all their products. I just wish there wasn't this hiccup with the phone.

They do "stand by their product." No such producg warranty is lifetime, and you must have abused the phone to have to pay full price for a replacement.  Stop whining and snivelling. No one put a gun to your head and forced you to pay for anything. Man-up and deal with it.
