Click the repeat button under the time slider on your music. You may have repeat on.

On the single song display in the iPod (Music) app there is a little "racetrack" oval on the left just below the progress bar. This is the "repeat" button. If it is blue tap it to turn off repeat.

Then go read the manual: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

Below that line you are describing there is a slider that shows your progress in the song. And below that on the left is the repeat icon and on the right is the shuffle icon.

    OMG.

I just went through this situation.

All the answers above assume we can see the repeat icon. When it's not showing it seems we have to tap the main image in the now playing mode. That reduces the song's image from a form of "show in full screen mode" to a smaller image, there once again displaying the repeat icon in the upper left.

    Whew. Who knew?

The blue progress bars and arrow icons, racetrack or whatever, are no longer visable on OS6. So no one's suggestions is helping to solve this problem anymore. There is NO way to turn off repeat after updating to OS6. WHY? Tapping on the main image in the "now playing" mode does NOTHING but flip to a screen where it lists the songs on that albumn. There are still NO progress bars or icons of any kind. Are the people replying with these fixes running OS6?

Wait. It seemed to be a glitch. I was veiwing my songs through my play lists and tapping on the image did nothing. But, when I went to songs and went to the exact same song that way, tapping on the image did bring up the progress bar and icons. Why it wouldn't do the same when I was navigating to the song through playlist? I have no idea.

They are visible on my phone running iOS 6.0.1. If you don't see the progress bar and other icons tap once in the middle of the screen.
