My 3 year old, has learned to lock my ipad with a new passcode and every time I have to restore the ipad to the factory settings, and I don't normally keep a recent backup of my contents so I end up spending all day building up my library of apps etc.

Is there an easier way to unlock your device? I know that you may lock your device remotely using the very useful find my iphone software but it can only be done using the existing passcode and not a new one.

I appreciate your help.

No, there is no easier way.  You should either learn to back up your data, or realize that the iPad is not a toy.

When I change the passcode on my device, I have to know the existing passcode.  Do you have a passcode on the device prior to the child locking it?  Is (your) passcode known by the child?

I don't if this works in the same way, but when my son locked my ipod I just plug it into the computer en run Itunes and I choose to unlock it, without loosing any of my settings.
