Jan 4, 2012 11:28 PM in response to beauxpby MustangMom,I took my iPad (original, no iPad2) to an Apple store about 30 minutes from here and they also swapped it out for another one. They said it wasn't worth trying to fix. I'm so glad it did it's "crazy thing" in front of the representative! I'm waiting to buy the iPad3. I hope that doesn't happen with that, as well. Mine was still under warranty, but what if it a new one starts doing this stuff and it's just past warranty?

Jan 18, 2012 6:09 AM in response to beauxpby LisandroLT,I am in Argentina, here we do not have an Apple store so I took my iPad2 to a reseller.
They noticed the problem and they told me that they will change it under warranty.
Everything fine so far but...
they gave me just a paper where it says that I have claimed the exchange and I must wait upto 2 months until they receive a new equiment.
At least they allow me to bring home my device (the one that it does not work well).
I hope they make the change soon!

Feb 9, 2012 8:35 PM in response to MustangMomby spiritspry,Thank you! Possessed is the right description. I just hope mine will repeat the behavior in the store. It's frustrating to have to spend a couple of hours on this.

May 22, 2012 8:12 AM in response to Ejack3by Beh107,I'm from Malaysia. My iPad1 having the same problem as describe on first post- typing on its own and open and close app, zooming in and out without me touching the screen. So I brought it to Machine service center at Mid-V. They told me my iPad1 is out of warranty. If I need to exchange for a same spec. iPad1, I need to pay RM1056.00. Then I was thinking ***, iPad2 now cost RM1200.00.
Would like to know any place can fix this. Or how to make them exchange for me without me paying so much? This is a hidden hardware problem, and may and may not happen to every iPad. They should know better.

May 29, 2012 1:56 PM in response to Ejack3by DVDKEV,I had this problem with my ipad2. Typing on its own, changing page size, moving about in applications etc, I spent days working on a fix and have finally solved it.
I hope this benefits others;
1) Download latest itunes to a computer.
2) Connect ipad 2 to the computer using white usb cable.
3) Transfer all purchases etc.
4) Disconnect from itunes.
5) go to settings on the ipad and choose the General option, scroll to bottom and select Reset.
6) choose erase all content and settings.
7) reconnect the ipad to the computer. wait for itunes to find the ipad.
8) on the ipad select set up as new ipad etc until it shows the icons.
9) on itunes select restore ipad.
10) leave itunes to download the latest software. it might take 30mins. dont touch it.
11) when the download is complete it will restore the ipad with latest software.
12) go to settings and switch off Bluetooth. turn off Multitasking gestures. select keyboard and turn off split keyboard. turn off the following too; auto correction, auto capitilisation,check spelling and shortcut.
that's it, ipad should now be problem free.
post here if this helps you.

May 29, 2012 11:06 PM in response to DVDKEVby DVDKEV,Following comments elsewhere let me clarify item 12 in my post above;
if you then wish to re-activate each of those features one by one you can do so. Should you find one of those then reintroduces the issue you can switch it back off.
I am not saying those features cause the issue but in my case they add no value to me so I switched them off to be on the safe side.

Jun 4, 2012 11:15 AM in response to chateaudillusionby DVDKEV,Hi
I am pretty sure the problem is to do with upgrading an older version of the software and therefore typically manifests itself when you select the upgrade option from the ipad over wifi.
It seems you have to completely wipe the ipad clean then install the latest version of the software. I guess its a bit like upgrading an existing windows operating system in that regard where the user can encounter problems with upgrade methods. A clean install seems to fix it.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
