I am having the same issue i restored and it worked for a while then it stoped playing again so even a restore is only a temperary fix. This is not an update it is a downgrade i also had wifi issues and camera issues. I would try a restore and hope it works for you.

Are you playing with headphones? if not, check the vibrate switch. that could cause music to not play, but if you are using headphone check the volume settings.
also check the audio setttings at:
Mono Audio should be "off"
check the Left and Right bias slider.
also on Settings->Music
check the volume limit, it might be set to low value which make it inaudible.
also turn off the sound check(this might be useful for noise cancellation but might also affect the audio on noiseless area).
I don't know if you are referring to a bug, but this is just a couple of troubleshooting ideas that I think that might help you.

No, no headphones were in. There were no audio settings out of sorts. It was literally playing iTunes Match perfectly fine, update to iOS 5.1.1 to no audio from the Music app. Again, Pandora played just fine. Google Music played just fine.
I restored from backup from previously that day, still no audio from Music. I ended up doing a clean restore from new and used iCloud to restore my apps from within iOS 5.1.1 and that worked, finally.
Although, I will tell you that now, since that clean wipe and restore for
iCloud, iTunes Match has been acting funny. When I try to download a song from my iTunes Match library, a song that is still in my main library, still available on my iMac, iTunes Match will say "item not available for download". I tried calling Apple today, told them my issue, after I've read someone else from MacRumors having the same issue with 5.1.1, and the Apple rep told me my iPhone was 110 days out of warranty and wanted to charge me to help. I declined and that was as far as I got with this problem.
I hope this helps anyone, or of anyone else is having this iTunes Match issue with 5.1.1, please let me know and let's work this out. Thanks everyone!

This is very unfortunate. I told the Apple rep the exact same thing. "This isn't a problem with my iPhone, it's your iCloud or iTunes Match that is the problem." I do pay for iTunes Match, and that was my issue in which I called Apple, yet the warranty status of my iPhone was the roadblock. Since I pay yearly for iTunes Match, and Apple clearly hasn't figured out all the kinks with that (yet?), shouldn't my questions for my current Paid In Full service be resolved? Wouldn't I kind of have a warranty of sorts with iTunes Match issues? Obviously not, and if not, who do I call for answers about my iTunes Match concerns and problems? Do I have to drive to a physical Apple store with my problems? Do only people with 1 year old or newer iPhones only get to ask questions about iTunes Match? As a matter of fact, Who Exactly can answer all of my precise questions about iTunes Match?
I've had iTunes Match since launch day, November 14, 2011, so why is it that some of my songs (which I legally own) are converted to 'Clean' edits of songs instead of my 'Explicit' versions which are in my main library? I "update" my iTunes Match very frequently from within iTunes 10.6.1(7) and still I hear 'Clean' versions of my music.
Who exactly did I give my $25 to? Because this doesn't seem like the Apple I normally happily hand my money over to.
P.S: Sorry for the mini-rant here. I'm kind of fed up with a few things regarding my iPhone and iTunes lately.

I suddenly have this problem too! And this time I actually bought music from iTunes and I'm paying for music match too. My music match songs don't even download - the app is completely dead. This is going to be my third DFU restore in month and I'm tired of starting over with a new phone and losing all my stuff. Why is this iOS so sketchy and their coming out with another when this one isn't even perfected or stabilized?

i had this problem and i found that if i deleted all my songs off of my phone (tedious i know) and then synced them back on through itunes they seem to be working, might want to try that.

I had a similar issue with a 4 s iOS 5.1.1..,podcasts, youtubes, pandora, etc were playing fine ,but the Music app didn't play.It wasnt just that the sound wasnt coming out, the thing couldnt be buggered to play at all. I seem to have fired it back to life when I toggled between the repeat modes though:ie Repeat 1, Repeat All, and Repeat Off.

I'm having the same problem too. This seems to be a huge glitch. I can't even get the playlist to open properly so I can delete all the songs. It's completely frozen. What a pain. It' won't allow me to delete the songs either.
