Just started using the calendar on my iphone4s because I'm going to buy an ipad2 in the next day or so.

I'm assuming that if I want the calendar entries on my iphone and ipad to match then they should both sync to and from icloud.

So I'm trying to get my iphone to sync.  If I enter something on the calendar on my iphone it won't show up in icloud, even after I wirelessly sync.

But if I input something on the calendar on icloud, it shows up almost instantly on my iphone.

How do I get my iphone to sync TO icloud?  So that when I get my ipad, all 3 things will be the same?

BTW, I'm on a PC.  I don't use Outlook.  Originally I synced everything (calendar, email and contacts) from Gmail to my iphone.  Then turned off that sync so that everything would sync to icloud.  So now want to manage calendar and contact on my iphone4s, icloud, and eventually an ipad.

Thanks.

Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calenars>Default Calendar (last entry under Calendar), select Calendar under your me.com address (not the one under On My Phone).  Now open your calendar and enter something and see if it doesn't appear on you iCloud calendar.

Awesome, that worked.  All my previous test were syncing back to my Google account. Thanks. Seems like I should have known that so thanks for helping out a newbie.  I'm very much sold on Apple though.  Going to buy my iPad2 tomorrow probably...and sometime next year make the plunge from a PC to a Mac. Thanks again.

I'm trying to do what you say. The question is. What device am I making these changes to.  My phone or my iPad?

My phone choices are gmail and iCloud. Under I cloud I have work, calender, and home.

My iPad has my Mac, which I am trying to be free from. Under iCloud I have the same choices as my phone.

    I am totally confused

I think I figured it out.  Because I didn't have the same choices on either device at the top I chose calendars in iCloud and tested both ways.  It worked!  What do you think? Did I do anything wrong?  Both default calenders is in iCloud as calenders.

Sounds like you did it correctly.  You want both your iPad and your iPhone default calendar to be one of your iCloud calendars (the same one on each).  Then events entered/changed on either device will be synced (via iCloud) to the other.
