Allen, I have three original emac CD's They are titled Emac Software install and restore 1, 2, & 3,
I also have one tited Mac OSX Version 10.1 The emac operating system is running Mac osx 10.3.9.
I have an IMac running 10.5.8. Do I use the Mac Osx Cd as the install CD? I am confused as to which CD to use to boot from?

The best ones to use are the ones that came with the Mac.
It is possible, the newer CD might not be able to boot the eMac.

Thank You I will try using the software install cd's that came with the emac to see if I can then follow the steps you outlined for me to erase the harddrive. I do not have anything that is titled just as an install CD.
I appreciate your help. I wanted to donate it or give this emac to my grandson to see his nursery rhymes on you tube like he does on my Imac but to no avail. Safari just quits and I keep getting message to upgrade the browser and I find out now there is no way to upgrade anything on this machine. The emac is only six years old but I am 69 years old and very behind the times with technology.Thank You again....Donna

Once you erase the harddrive is there a way to get out of the loop of having to reinstall? I've gone through the erase process twice and so far it seems I must put in a user name, address phone number etc.? I want to donate the computer and don't want any info on it. Is the hard drive truely erased bu just choosng erase? I was not aware of any additional options though some citations suggested I would have levels of erasure to choose from.

Just power down at the point it asks for name & such, it'll ask the new owner next time it boots up.
