Jun 4, 2012 11:22 AM in response to DVDKEVby chateaudillusion,So how can i do the clean install now?
The update i done this afternoon was through itunes.
If right now i go to the settings on my iPad, and try to select software update, it doesn't allow me to update as it's already the latest.

Jun 4, 2012 11:31 AM in response to DVDKEVby chateaudillusion,I could not update the software as the ipad itself is already saying that it's the latest software. Therefore the 30+mins for downloading the new software is not "Required".

Jun 4, 2012 11:34 AM in response to chateaudillusionby DVDKEV,Follow the instructions. Make sure you are running latest itunes version on your computer. Transfer all your purchases from ipad to your computer. Then go to General in ipad and select reset at bottom of the list then erase all content and settings. Just follow my step by step instructions from then on.

Jun 4, 2012 11:40 AM in response to DVDKEVby chateaudillusion,Before I tried your method,
I have already updated my itunes to the latest version too.
And i have no purchases from ipad that i can send to my computer as it was already restored for a few times( it's can be described as a empty ipad).
Then I went to select the erase all contents and settings...
but still it's moving on its own.

Jun 4, 2012 12:17 PM in response to chateaudillusionby DVDKEV,If I understand you correctly you are saying you cannot erase all content and settings because it is moving around too much. To stop it moving temporarily, click the power button quickly. the screen should go blank. press the home button. slide the bar to reveal the desk top. you may only have a short time before it starts moving so quickly go to settings/general/restore and erase all content and settings.
failing that, assuming you are out of warranty (check that first), put the ipad in a cushioned protective case and at your own risk, give it a firm hard slap on the back (not the front as you may break the glass) in my experience this had a similar effect to the above.
Mine has now been fault free and a delight to use for the past 2 weeks and I'd even given up on it at one point so stick with it.

Sep 26, 2012 11:34 PM in response to Ejack3by keesverhoeven,Same here. My ipad 2 has a mind of its own. driving me nuts. basically in all the apps, news apps, facebook, twitter, youtube, safari, you name it. Have just upgraded to iOS6 hoping that would solve it. But it did nt. well, i don;t have the issue with the youtube app ;-). Issue is still there in safari, new apps, facebook, twitter etc. It also randomly siwtches between apps.
I read a few comments and would also say it's hardware issue so i'll take it to the store...

Oct 21, 2012 9:27 AM in response to Ejack3by rlsmith1994,My iPad was doing the same thing - typing random letters, opening random apps, etc. Mostly it would type the same characters (CCCC;;;;;X:CCC:;;;CS). I did a restart, reboot, and even restore to factory settings. None of that worked.
I have a hard plastic case with a rubber covering. I took off the rubber covering only (leaving the hard plastic part on) to look at it and it acted fine. Then, I put the rubber covering back on and it acted weird again. Now I just have the hard plastic covering on.
So, my theory is that it has something to do with the case. Maybe it is pressing hard against the typing part of the screen, or rubbing against the screen somehow? Whatever it is, it worked.

Feb 20, 2013 2:34 AM in response to DVDKEVby applemum79,I tried your method and it didn't work. I think it's definitely something to do with the hardware. Unfortunately, I'm out of warranty and I've had to change the digitizer because it was shattered on my own. Starting to think I'll just have to get a new one.

Mar 22, 2013 10:18 PM in response to applemum79by xaviesta68,My new iPad4 with retina display is now experiencing the same 'magic'. It keeps self operating, if turned on/cover opened. Just like some ghost is overriding my control.
I've tried to restart, reset, even remove all media and settings to the point of starting using a new iPad. It just won't go away. Haven't tried any exorcism yet, though, :p
Does Apple acknowledged such 'error'? Mine is still under warranty, but the problem is, it's bought overseas. It's not officially available yet in my country. So I'm not sure whether local reseller would take this matter into their concerns.
Care to comment, Apple? :(

Apr 25, 2013 5:08 AM in response to Ejack3by jbut1220,My iPad2 scrolls, flips pages, takes over inputs, etc. on its own.I powered off and on and reset. It has nothing to do with remote access. And It seems to be a problem for many. I hate that I will have to pay for a software issue that so many others are having. This is definitely a glitch in the iPad that Apple should deal with.

Apr 25, 2013 6:29 AM in response to jbut1220by Ex_Brit,This all sounds to me more like a Bluetooth and/or Wireless connection that isn't secure and it is simply mirroring someone else's input.

Jul 27, 2013 4:37 PM in response to Ejack3by reptileszz,Same thing here with ipad 3rd gen . Started out of the blue after working great for 10 months. Apple store replaced it. Taking video with phone helped then it did it to the apple guy anyway. Thanks for that tip.
