When I attempt to restore a folder to my desktop from the backup drive, Time Machine creates the folder, but doesn't restore the contents. Any suggestions?

Hello, since nobody has replied yet...

Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

    http://Pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html

I can't imagine anything TMwise not covered.

For any one who might be in the same spot:

Just paid apple support for solving this Q.

    They did.

And...yes, its a matter of disc permissions.

    The problem is easily solved.

In finder, select the time machine disc.

The first folder you´ll see should read something like:

    Backups.backupdb

select it and view its info.

In the buttom, you´ll see the permission-field

Your name(as administrator) will have to be there. If its not, click the + below, and select yourself from the menu.

    Make it "read & write"

Now, with "you" selected, click the little wheel below, and click "use on subfolders" (or something like that).

    Your done :-)

Now, the disc will begin changing  the permissions on all the files...might take a while...

    Happy recovery :-)
