The natively supported formats are :

Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

Depending on where/how you are are trying to see them then you could either convert them prior to trying to it/them into a supported format or see if there is an app in the store that supports it.

You get the error message when you try to sync your MOV / M4V / MP4 files from your iTunes to your iPad? The files are playable in iTunes?

Then, you'll need to change their so-called H.264 level to 4.1 or below. If you have a Mac, you'll need to use Subler. See http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/watching-videos-taken-max-roundup-mkv-mp4m4v-v ideo-converters for a complete tutorial; start at the paragraph starting with "After this, it's worth clicking the video track in the upper list if you want to play the video back in the stock Videos app on your iDevice and not in a third-party one".

The background explanation for all this is to be found at http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/making-stock-videos-application-play-every-mp4 -files-possible . Note that it uses other, more akward utilities to do the level fixing. Again, if you have a Mac, Subler is your friend.

"Are you using aneesoft video converter to convert into one of these formats?"

Let's not promote commercial converter apps when we have the excellent and free(!!!) Handbrake around.

"Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format"

AVI can not be synchronized to either Videos or Photos and can only be input to the iPad without using third-party software via the CCK. That is, it shouldn't be listed as compatible. (I've also elaborated on this q yesterday in another thread; I can't find the URL now.)

Can you provide me with some MediaInfo screenshots of these videos? (Just drag the videos in the MediaInfo and make the screenshots of the latter public.)
