fnfErr = -43, /*File not found*/
Besides Disk Corruption, could you be putting an illegal character in the Name of the file? Like colon or Backslash?

I work on Excel files through my Office Mac program. On two occasions, a large Excel file, (about 1.5 MB) will not save and is not recoverable. It gives me an error code -43.
Can you "save as"?

Jun 5, 2012 8:27 PM in response to BDAquaby JurbyJim,Thanks for you comments. The files in both cases had been saved many times, without changing the file name. I was able to recover a "copy" of the corrupted file, so many weeks work saved. Still not sure what has happened. As you suggested, the file shows as not found, even as I attempt to "save" it. It stays in my file folder but will not open. Am okay until the next time, but would sure love to know what happens.

Jun 5, 2012 8:43 PM in response to JurbyJimby X423424X,If it only happens with very large spread sheets, and only happens randomly, then one possibility is a buffer overflow, i.e., some piece of data is so large as to clobber the data that follows it. If that is the case then the problem would only manifest itself if (a) you happen to access that data, (b) write beyond its allocation, and (c) what's just beyond that gets clobbered is something involved with the file's pathname. Then when the pathname is needed it can't be found resulting in the -43.
In other words, more "quality" programming from Microsoft...not.
Just a theory.
