I have the very same problems in holding a connection with a Nissan Altima 2011, hands free. The old Moto Razor worked great, no problems. Just gota iPhone4 (ios 5.1.1) The thing just does not hold a connection. . .AND I believe that it has somthing to do with the OS. Apple just needs to address the issue!

I have just set up my first iphone and it won't connect to my macbook or the bluetooth in my car which are both new this year. Very disappointed with this phone and am going straight back to Nokia.
Also it keeps losing signal in areas I have never had problems before.

Hi everybody, i'm writing from italy, sorry for my english.
i've had this problems: my iphone 4s didn't find any other iphone, bluetooth device or car stero.
my phone was always searching any device but never find one of it. i read many people's have this problems and i spent some day's for find a solution and only now i have!
is very simple, with the BT on you have to switch on the personal hotspot, and surprise! now you can find the device.
Since you have found for the first time the BT device you don't have to do this procedure again. just turn on you BT on your phone.
I hope to help person have the same problem, without spending too much time for find a solution.
Greatings from Italy!

As I had post, I have the same issue:if I power off and on my headset, I have to go to setting -> Bluetooth to reconnect (accept the connecting from headset even the headset had been connected before). Otherwise , the connection wii reject by iPhone. The weird thing is if I power off and on iPhone, the reconnection is always good. iPhone does not reject the connecting and I do not need manually involve.
My Sony, motorola and Nokia do not have this issue. iPhone *****!

Did you ever get an answer to your Bluetooth issue? I'm having the EXACT same problem. Very frustrating for a number of reasons including apps that sync to the Mac via bluetooth.

I have the same issue with the Subaru Blueconnect hansfree in my Legacy. IPhone continually searches for a connection. IPhone goes back tomorrow if this is a permanent issue with the latest 5.1.1 release.

I cant see apple sorting this out soon (or ever) - they just dont seem to care !
This makes me pretty angry to hear !
My phone kit is aftermarket but to have a situation where your whole car is not compatible with your phone is ridicluous !!
Especially when the police write you tickets and fine you for using your phone whilst driving.
SORT IT OUT APPLE OR YOU WILL LOSE SOME CUSTOMERS !

Bluetooth pairing worked just fine in my car (Audi) until I updated to iOS6. Contacted Apple support, they wanted to charge me to fix the problem. When I asked if they really could fix it (since all support forums indicated otherwise), they told me to go to Audi and get the car's Bluetooth software updated. I went to Audi, they told me they had no software available. Apparently Apple charges for every update car makers would need to make in order for the system to work. If this is true, then shame on Apple.
If the Bluetooth compatibility/pairing doesn't get fixed then I will be out looking for an alternative phone.
