Q: Open Firmware password can't be opened - "legacy image should be converted"

Hi,

I have downloaded Open Firmware Password.dmg at the link provided in the article. Anytime I try to open it, a message comes up: "The following disk images couldn't be opened: Open Firmware Password.dmg, Reason: legacy image should be converted." What does this mean and what am I supposed to do? Can anybody help me please? Thanks!

Go down to the How to enable the Open Firmware Password section of that document. If your computer shipped with Mac OS X 10.6, follow the 10.5 directions. If it shipped with Mac OS X 10.7, press the Option key at startup, tab to that partition, and open it from the utilities.

    As stated in the article itself, you need to use the version on the computer's original DVD and not the one on Apple's servers. If your computer came with Lion, access it from the recovery partition.

    oh, i just realized it still doesn't really work. Can you please tell me how exactly i get that version? What is the recovery partition? Thanks.

    do you mean the partition of my built in hard drive that I'm using all the time, or will there be a "recovery partition" which I shall select?

    I selected Recovery Partition and then  Disk Utility after pressing option at startup. I went to that Mac OS X Boot thing on the list with the hard drives are (like the screen shot in this discussion https://discussions.apple.com/message/18168530#18168530), but I was not able to take any actions. All Buttons were shielded out. It would be very nice if you could describe what to do once more in detail, so that I might understand it better. Thank you!!
