    You have no idea how brilliant hackers can be with working with a user having just a password as a protection to his payment and personal information which can be used to make fraud accounts and purchases. So give the company a break.

    The issue for me is not that there is a need for more security - of course I want my account safe - but the inflexibility of the three silly questions. Some time ago I set my own question and answer for my Apple ID so of course it is possible to extend that system - it just hasn't been thought through properly. If I complete this I will have 4 answers plus a password to remember just for this one company. At least choosing your own questions makes sense.

     

    I've contacted Apple but I got cut and paste answers that don't address my concerns.

     

    By the way, I had another go at an iTunes purchase yesterday and got a new 'Not Now' option when the pop-up appeared asking to set up 3 questions  - so I was able to skip that and bought something. The Mac App Store however is still insisting I answer the questions before I download even a free app.

     

    Maybe I'll give in at some time but I feel too irritated at the moment - how odd for a company to put up a barrier to sales, no matter how few and petty we grumblers are.

    They are certainly smarter than Apple - wonder how much money Apple REALLY has in the bank.

     

    Was it phished dry by anonymous by an App the placed on the Apple iAPP store.

     

    How can you ever trust apple when they can not even explain what is actually happening.

    I hate these questions. Let me assess my account. I don't know where I was on the 1 of jan 2011 !!!!!! I don't know who my first teacher was!!!!!! JUST TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

    And you propose to be able to remember each of the patterned codes 5 years down the line will you? Or are you suggesting using the same code, but appended differently based on the specific question?

     

    Because if it is the former, how would you suggest remembering which specific noun goes with which specific question - if, using your theory, a person used a giraffe, a buffalo and a hippo; you would be able to say categorically down the line that you would remember each of them?

    eg what was your fave teacher - giraffe12345bluefave

    what was your first car - bison98765redfirst

    what was your first pet - hillbilly1blackfirst

     

    and then you're asked in 5 years - bearing in mind there is absolutely NO correlation between the answer and question - and you feel you would remember these? In addition to other sites bringing in similar methods soon acccording to what you say... therefore possibly ending up with upwards of 7 or 8 passwords of this similar fashion... call me thick, but that doesn't strike me as a realistic boast, and I have good memory capacity for numbers etc. So that leaves us again with writing them down somewhere - entirely defeating the object of security.

    Now you've done that, do you notice something? Noone is ******** about additional security, just the way it has been implemented... We appreciate apple keeping things as tight as possible, but this method and the questions being asked are the griping point!

    To be honest I was really ****** of with the stupid system and needed somewhere to vent. This worked very well and I felt much better. If that annoys you, frankly my dear I don't give a ****!! :)

    For me, as someone who uses long generated passwords, password lockers, passphrase protected certitifcates and hardware two factor auth these questions look like a product of the work experience kid.

     

    The iOS devices are locked down hardware platforms. Hardware! They are perfectly good for providing a second factor for authentications. If you have stolen my iPad AND know my password good luck to you.

     

    Google offer two factor authentication via phone and they don't even make phones. Apple have the most proprietary platform around and they can't work out how to use it to provide a second authentication token? Very disappointing.

    Again, richardhead, let me repeat - we all advocate extra security measures, but in this instance the way it has been put in is causing the issue.

    And the T&Cs you mention? Yeah we agreed to those - IN THE ORIGINAL FORMAT, not this misconstrued effort. They have changed t&c, we change whether to accept or not Capiche?

     

     

    Also - so what if we aren't shareholders - the CUSTOMERS are what the company was built and made successful on, not the a5sholes who just sit back and count the checks as they come in. A good company has loyalty on the product and customer basis, not because they get a substantial redline profit. It's th shareholders who cause many issues by demanding the absolute max redline margins, when the company would still benefit and grow, but without ripping off customers.

    F.v.c.k shareholders - the less of them in the world for everything, maybe prices wouldn't soar so extravagantly - doubtful, but we can wish. Meantime though - Apple need to focus on the customer basis, else those same said shareholders will (hopefully) find a void left by the faithful leaving and going elsewhere........

    If you're so good why don't you make your own company? Maybe a one as good as Apple. Oh sorry, a person who always complains and misguides people with such bias-ed reasons definitely won't be able to handle the pressure.

     

    Shareholders and people on the same field are one of the most important part of a state, they make things possible for what seems to be impossible for lazy people even for a thousand years.

     

    If you can't do any better, just deal with it.

    How can I change the security questions? I have no idea what the answer is for either of them and I have rang apple and they have gave me no help whatsoever. It seems like a easy task to reset the questions but they don't know that. At the end of the day I can't get access to apps because I don't know the answers, someone please help me quick! Thanks
