I'm having no issues at all with anything in the store...including podcasts. My guess is that you don't have something set up correctly in the cntlm.ini file. You must edit the cntlm.ini file and put in your username, password, domain and proxy server info. For example...

    username     johndoe

    domain        mydomain.com

    password     Mypassword!1

    proxy          192.168.0.1:8080

The proxy info is typed in with the IP address then a colon and then the port number for the proxy server. Also, go in to services and verify that the CNTLM Authenticaiton service is running. Hope this helps.

I did set it up like that exaclty, This then allowed me to bale to browse the store and even go to my podcasts, in essence itunes connects to the net now, but when i try and get my podcast or update them then it asks me to log into the "new proxy" that points to cntlm, i.e 127.0.0.1:3128 there is nowhere to set a password for 127.0.0.1:3128 and the ini file does not give a default one.

I have been having this problem for months now , are Apple actually working on a fix for this ?

Can't really attempt the fix as suggested in this thread as my company would go mental if it is a security risk also don't  think I have admin access.

Fininding it really annoying as can't sync/update my iphone apart from using wi-fi at home.

    Hello everyone,

I have this issue too and I also can't apply the proposed solution with a static proxy configuration tool.

I'm a system engineer in a big company and it's against all our security restriction to safe user credentials in clear text on a machine.

To avoid the issue i did not do the rollout of ITunes 10.6 until now. 10.5 is still working good. So there is no big pressure to solve the issue, but anyway it would be nice to stay up to date.

So I want to ask, if there is already a fix for the issue or if there is a schedule to fix this issue?

    Regards,
    The Magic Engineer

I've given up with 10.6 unistalled it and gone back to 10.5.3 .

Everything works fine now, although it was frustrating having to reinstall all my playlists and reconfiguring my iphone layout again .

Lots of angry users , apple just don't seem capable of fixing the problem.

I guess I won't be listening / purchasing from iTunes at work any longer...

My Spotify subscription seems to be doing me just fine as is my Google Music subscription and buying from Amazon.

Come on Apple, why not at least test your software before releasing it?

    Tsk Tsk.

Yes, I tried your fix and it worked at the beginning. I was able to type in my proxy credentials into itunes. But there are still two issues. First, itunes does not save the credentials properly. Second, itunes does not automatically detect the windows proxy configuration. You can't expect from a user, that he is able to type in his proxy configuration by himself. Must user doesn't even know what a proxy is =).

However, your solution is nice for small environments, but for an engineer of a company with tousands of machines it's no solution. Way to much effort to get all the machines working again ;-).

Anyway, thanks a lot for your efforts....

    Sincerely,
    The Magic Engineer
