    i've had all the same your problem Roks... please if you will get the free update post victory on forum so we will should try to earn it like you...

    I've had my computer in for "trouble-shooting" and they couldn't find anything wrong. In the end I got my Os upgraded to Lion and I haven't had any problems since (about 2 months now).

     

    Either this is software related, or apple has changed the use of the different graphic cards in Lion - either way - it seems that the problem is fixed for Lion. Still crap that you have to update to Lion to get rid of the problem...

    I have been to AppleCare 5 times about this problem. They have no idea how to fix it. They have wiped my computer twice and I had to reistall everything manually because at that stage they were convinced that it was my software issues. I am a design student, and believe me reinstalling all my adobe programs over and over was not fun. They then replaced the screen .. then logic board.. then decided it was the harddrive and hardrive cable - meaning I had to reinstall everything again a third time manually.. and 2 months later.. It is once again blue screening.

    Time to try some of these fixes you guys have suggested, because Apple has NFI.

    Hey all,

     

    Sorry I haven't updated you - have been very busy with school lately. I bring good news though!

     

    Last time I left off with my computer being away for repairs for the third time. Because of the inconvenience the Apple retailer gave me a free "express service" which guarantees a return in 3-5 days. After a week I became impatient and started calling them, it turned out they wanted to replace the following:

     

    Logic Board (2nd time)

    Top case

    2x RAM-modules

     

    The problem was that they didn't have the items in stock and they had to ask Apple for permission. Apple didn't grant any permission. They made their problem my problem, so I decided it was time for me to call AppleCare. (Even though I never bought AppleCare)

    I have talked with many many different people from different departments and this resulted in me typing this message from my brand new MacBook Pro. I explained my story for about 20 times and I finally ended up with somebody who was an "AppleCare Technical Senior Advisor". I told him my story and specifically my discontent and lost of faith in Apple (which seemed to strike the right chord). He ensured me that if this third repair was insuccesful, he would personally get me a new device.

    About two weeks later I got my computer back and it didn't take long before I was able to force the problem once again. I contacted the advisor and 2 days later I had a brand new MacBook Pro - a newer version with Lion and better hardware even!

     

    So, apparantly, this is the way to go! It's an unrepairable problem, so get off your ***** and demand a new device! Feel free to use my case as an example to them!

    Partially can help Software update, reset SMC and PRAM.

    How to do SMC and PRAM reset?

    SMC reset: Disconnect all periferals except power supply. Hold down SHIFT+CTRL+ALT (all on the left side) and press Power button.

    PRAM reset: Hold CMD+ALT+P+R at computer start

    After this procedure less often, nearly never blue screen occured.

    I decided to take the plunge and install Mountain Lion.  I didn't do it just to resolve the blue screen issue with my early 2011 MacBook Pro.  I also wanted  the new features Mountain Lion offered.  Long story short there are no more blue screens with Mountain Lion and I love all the new features.  It didnt slow down my computer at all.  Farewell Snow Leopard.

    Was your mac in warenty when you did this?, because mine is not anymore.

     

    I just got this problem with Mountain Lion.

    It's really disappointing to hear that you're still having this issue with mountain lion.  I haven't gotten a blue screen since upgrading on 07-26-2012, but if I get a blue screen I'm definitely going to try to get a replacement from Apple.  I bought my macbook pro in May 2011, so the Apple warranty has expired.  However, the credit card I used to buy the computer extends the warranty for another year, so I can pursue a warranty claim through my credit card company.

    hello everybody,

     

    Since I installed gfxCardStatus I haven't had the issue. I usually use the integrated (Intel) card as I don't use video/picture softwares.

    i created a new profile and there isn't the issue, then i see in this profile there isn't the ColorSync folder.

    so i back to my original profile and i remove the ~/Library/ColorSync folder, restart and i fixed.

    sorry for my english.

    I am another annoyed user of MacBookPro8,2 with the blue screen issue.
    I had that before I got motherboard replace and after. Replacing motherboard fixed the RAM issue and loose USBs, but the blue screen still exists.
    I just formatted the HDD and reinstalled fresh system but it didn't help.

    It is happening when exit from HighPerformance mode of GPU to energy saving.

     

    Is there a way to make a keyboard shortcat to switch from Energy Saving mode to High Performance mode in situation begin to happen so I can at least save may work and restart computer?

    You do not need to restart and lose your work when this happens.  Put your MacBook to sleep by closing the lid.  Then open the lid and press any key to wake the computer.  Everything will be back to normal.
