I recently replaced the hard drive in my husband's mac and installed itunes. I then restored his music library (a very large one) from the backup on an external hard drive. He connected his iPod classic and attempted to sync. He said he got an error message (no idea what kind of message), then he restored the iPod. Now it fails to sync. It will "sync" a number of songs then an error message appears "The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off"...we did not attempt to eject the iPod, it does this on it's own. Then the iPod disappears in iTunes, but still displays "do not disconnect" on the iPod screen.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

To be of any assistance, we need more info

    1. Which version of iTunes are you using?
    2. What is the iPod software version as shown in the iTunes summarry page?
    3. Which model of iPod Classic are you using?
    4. Can you play the music listed in the iTunes library?

Most helpful if you try and get the error message or bring it in to the Apple Store for the Genius to have a look.

    Have a nice day!
