Q: Software Update Service

I'm having difficulty with the reliability of my Software Update Server.

The latest Apple updates haven't downloaded to the server and I keep getting errors that "swupd_syncd <Error>: *** Reason: file download path cannot be reached / does not exist.". All the config files point at /var/db/swupd/ and all the directories there are correctly owned by _softwareupdate.

Can't find anything obvious that is wrong!

I've applied the fix in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3867 just in case that was the problem, with no change in the symptoms!

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Mac mini server

    Hi

This has been going on for years (search the forums for 10.4, 10.5 & 10.6) and almost always happens whenever there's a series of new updates available and even if there's a new hardware product line up. It may start working tomorrow or after 2 weeks. However there's no real way of knowing as Apple don't provide much feedback either.

You're just going to have to be patient and wait like the rest of us.

    HTH?
