Sorry, I stand corrected. Once you click the join, then leave appears. But the pop out thing does not work for me.

Sorry I don't know what else to tell you. It works on my machine (a 2009 MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7, the latest Flash Player as well) and my friends 2008 white MacBook with Snow Leopard.
The only thing I can think of is to make sure you as looking at the correct listing in the activity window. When you select PopOut you get two identically titled listings in the activity window. The "PopOut" listing is usually the second one (or last one if you have multiple tabs open). The video is the very first item (often starts with "http://o-o.prefered.......") and is obviously xMB in size.
Oh and make sure you have Safari's pop up blocker disabled otherwise the "PopOut" windows will not appear. (Safari-->Block Pop-Up Windows should be unchecked)

Hey it works. Good thing you told me about Safari's pop up blocker. I had it enabled. Works well.
Thank you very much.

Hi. Just thought I'd share my experience. This only seems to be a problem with any YouTube videos that are only available in 240p. For any video that also has 360p or higher along with the 240p simply change the quality to the highest setting and you should then see the full video in the Activity Window. Works for me!

It works unless when I double click on the big file the download does not start, actually it shows the same movie in a new safari window.
What wrong with it? Any help?

That's the normal behavior. Try holding down the "option" key while double-clicking.

I didn't know about the option-key.... GREAT STUFF!!!
It was several days that I was looking for the solution about the 1.7 mb files from youtube.
WELL VERY DONE!
Thanks so much

I am having the same problem after updating to Mountain Lion and Safari 6 -
1 - No access to webmail (gmail or hotmail)
2 - No ativity window to download any videos from webpages.
Any help appreciated.

Not having any problemas with webmails, all working fine.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to download flash videos the old way through "Activity window", now "web inspector" > tool bar >Develop >drop-down window, or, option>command>a, which still works but differently, it opens down at the bottom page instead of the old popup separate window.
if anyone has a hint please let me know.

While it works with Lion I am not updating to Mountain Lion!!!
By the way, meanwhile it works with most of video on youtube, it does not work with this:
it make several file of 1.7 Mb but no one of those is a video.
PS: I know that is covered by a copyright but I do not have a full internet access, I have to pay for any accessing, so I would like to watch the video even when I am not connectect to the internet.

works as expected with snow leopard…
video shows in activity window as 11.3 mb
Currently Being ModeratedAug 6, 2012 7:42 PM (in response to maylbu)
I found that window too, I tried the vpeipus options for download. I managed to see r some of the pictures but no video yet. I believe the issue is related to Safari 6 and not Mountain Lion, Any help appreciated.

Thank William for answering,
Did you try to open it?
I tried again and I can get the 11.3 mb file too but if I try to open it, it does not work, it is not a video.
