all of a sudden my airport express is not supported by APU 6. tried to install the old one, 5.6, but Lion 10.7.4 will not allow it.

so now what? I have to buy a new airport?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Whta is your issue with Airport Utility and Airport Express. Both are working for me. I have 10.7.4, the new Airport Utility, and 7.6.1 on the Airport Express.

You can also download Airport Utility 5.6 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

HPNY, unfortunately, if you click on the link shown within:

"This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure or manage this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at...."

it will take you to 5.6.1 - I fell for that one. That download does not work in Lion. You need to click on the link in bobwild's 06/12/2012 4.23pm post which takes you to 5.6 which is the Lion compatible software. Everything works for me now (thanks bobwild) but for an hour I had believed two previously workable 'old' Airport Expresses had suddenly become expensive and redundant legacy hardware.

I can understand Apple's introduction of parallel software but not their apparent failure to explain what's happening. This is actually triplicate software, not just parallel.  Thank goodness for the contributors on these forums doing Apple's work for them.

I can't figure it out either. So when/if you or anyone else can figure it out, I'm all ears. Even Applecare was stumped and couldn't figure it out.
