On my system, when I insert a blank CD, a message box pops up asking me to pick an application to use the blank CD with.
If I select Disk Utility and hit OK, it opens the Disk Utility app, it DOES NOT create an icon on my desktop. If I want to burn files that that CD, I just select BURN DISC from the menu bar and then drag and drop files into the window the pops up.
If I select FINDER and hit Ok, it creates a BURN FOLDER (not a CD Icon) on my desktop. Then all I have to do is drag and drop files into that burn folder that was created on my desktop.
