I have the same problem from time to time, MacBook Pro 13-inch mid-2010 connected to an external monitor.

I know it's not a fix, but if I disconnect the monitor and then reconnect it, that usually resolves the situation. Although I have to stick all my windows back to where I like them again...

    Hi Jowie,

As dlbogdan mentioned earlier, moving the cursor to the dock makes it reappear.  Does that not work for you?

I hope Apple does somthing about this.  It's very surprising to me that this problem has not been adressed.  This happens to me several times a day interupting my workflow and causing frustration.  It's very unlike Apple to let such an important interface issue persist.

    Hi PanzerCAD,

No this doesn't work for me. I don't know if it matters that my MacBook's screen is set up as the second monitor, but also includes the dock... The system menu bar is on the main screen (external monitor) because it sits above my MacBook screen.

    Jowie,

I think your problem may be caused by a separate issue - but I could be wrong.  Nevertheless, having to disconnet and reconnect the monitor is a painful way to get it back.  Hopefully we'll all get a fix for this...

Lastest update 10.7.4 did not resolve the issue for me.  Mouse will still disapear on both monitors at times.

I'm running a mini with dual monitors and this happens to me occasionally. I've found that if I select a different app (or two) the curser works again.

This is my setup as well and this works for me, too. I also make extensive use of Spaces and have Air Display adding an old MacBook Pro to the desktop, but that doesn't seem to have caused it. Just clicking to another app totally works for me, though. Anoying, but not a huge problem.

I know how to REPRODUCE this issue. I have a Chrome window open on my laptop screen, maximized to the max. On my external monitor I have a non-maximized Terminal window open. If I focus on the Chrome window, then focus on the Terminal window and start scrolling up and down for a bit, then move the mouse back to my laptop monitor, the mouse cursor will disappear and I will have to do a click in order to get the mouse cursor back.

I can't reproduce it this way 100% of the time, but there are periods of a few minutes when this behaviour does happen consistently.

Same problem for me - seemingly random. Moving from one monitor to the next. Mac Mini 2009 with latest Lion.

I get this all the time. Sometimes randomly, others are reproducable.

I can reproduce it every time by playing a movie in iTunes in fullscreen mode. The second fullscreen is activated, the mouse disappears (making it near impossible to access the hover controls at the bottom of the movie). After exiting fullscreen, the mouse does not return until I command+tab(hold) and move the mouse while the app icons are up on the screen.

Using 24" and 27" Apple LED Cinema Displays on an i7 MBP.

It's ridiculous this hasn't been fixed yet.

I'm getting the same problem on a MacPro with two Apple monitors connected. All the Apple Lion updates applied. Cursor disappears randomly on the second monitor, I click on the task switcher to get it back. Very irritating bug.

Does anyone think Apple monitor these discussions?

    Or care?

It Happens when playing Flash or Video on line with Browsers... no matter which browser.

    So what's the answer guys?

Yes I'm getting the same problem. cursor dissapears on second monitor - using ableton live + chrome

If I drag a window from my main monitor onto secondary monitor, the pointer reappears

We've been seeing this for some time now and can confirm that it does remain unfixed in the 10.7.4 update.  Apple... I don't know about you but having a cursor is fundamental and vital to working on a desktop.  During the course of an average work day, it disappears approximately a dozen times.  We reset it by clicking on the secondary display and voila... it's back.

Perhaps you can address this immediately as it is affecting many of your users on a daily basis?!

It's a very frustrating bug. It happens 30 or 40 times a day to me :/ I'm adept at fixing it (place cursor over the icon bar) - but I'd just rather it didn't happen!

I can't believe how long this bug has been around without a fix!
