I need to reinstall iDVD.  I've read the threads on this forum and would like to re-confirm a couple items before I start.

1. It looks like I need to un-install the current version of iDVD on my Mac before attempting to reinstall iDVD.  Is this correct?  Can I just drag the iDVD app into the waste basket?

2. When I insert the iLife disk, a window opens with one icon that looks like a cardboard box: Install Bundled Software.  When I clck on this icon, will I then have the choice to install only iDVD?  I don't want to re-install any of the other iLife applications.

Thank you

    2. Yes - choose custom install and select just iDVD.

Still trying to figure out how to reinstall iDVD.  When in insert the iLife 11 disk and click on the Install Bundled Software icon, I get the customization choices shown below.  I do not want to reinstall iPhoto, but the option to de-select it is grayed out.  Any suggestions?  Thx

They are greyed out because they are already installed.

In case someone else has this problem, re point #1 above, you cannot just drag and drop iDVD into the waste backet to uninstall it.  You also have to remove iDVD file from two other locations in Library folder.  One is to remove any iDVD items in the LIbrary > Receipts folder.  The other is to remove any iDVD items in the Library > Application Support folder.

Did it worked? i have the same problem...i know that they are greyed but it says "install" and if you add 274mb + 273mb its not 1,45 GB o.O

so i need to know if it works and if im going to loose the iPhoto..

Something to add to the discussion...

I recently got an MBP with Lion and was dismayed that iDVD was missing.  I use it regularly for work.

I purchased iLife '09 last year, but I recently moved and couldn't find the installer discs.  I did, however, find the set of OS X 10.6 installer DVDs from our other laptop, which includes one disc for the OS and another disc for included software. I tried running the "Install Bundled Software" application, but this fails with an error that the software cannot be installed on this computer. That makes sense, as the DVDs were made to only work with a specific model of Mac (not this new one).

However, I was successful in using Pacifist to open the disc's installer packages, drill down to iDVD, and install iDVD. Software Update then recognized it and updated it to 7.1.2.  I just burned a short slideshow to a DVD and it worked as expected.

    Hope this helps somebody.
