HT1430 When I turn off my iPhone, it immediately restarts itself. Any suggestions on how to keep it shut off?

My problem isn't turning off the iPhone. I am able to get it to shut down by pressing the top button and sliding the arrow. However, after I do so it turns itself back on, and it does so within a few seconds. I thought maybe the case I have was causing it to do so, but I have tried turning it off without the case on- it's no use. This causes my battery to dwindle when I'm not even using the device. Please help!
