i have a old ipod nano, that has some songs on it from another computer. and there's some songs on it that i don't have/know where the disk is.

    You can't use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer mac," you should get some links.

     

    Once the songs files from iPod are on the computer, add them to your iTunes library and sync your iPod to that iTunes library.
