Try going to Settings -> General -> Network and check if the data services and enable 3G and everything else is on...
If not, then turn it on. Or you could try turning your phone on and off.

I also have the same problem, I got my iphone from AT&t USA. Got it unlocked via itunes. I inserted a new sim (philippine sim) but it showed no signal. Hope someone can help us fix this problem.

Easy. I handed it over to iZone (a Premium Reseller in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia).
They fixed it in 2 hours.
They said that they had to "reset the electrical setup". Not sure what that means, but I presume it is like a Service Center reset.
I had originally given up on the phone. I waited till iOS6 was out and still did not fix it. So tried my luck with iZone.
iPhone 4 8Gb unlocked
