Upon opening my computer iTunes icon, I was presented with the message that all my songs are unchecked.  None of my music shows up in my music; everything is blank.  Does this mean I have lost all my songs?  If not, is there a way to get them back?

    Refer to this article:

No content shows up in iTunes after updating

Since my music disappeared prior to updating, this article did not help to retrieve my lost music, although I followed the directions.  Thank you, but I am still in a pickle.

Why would your music be missing?  Can you provide more information as how it happened?

I have no clue what happened.  I clicked on iTunes icon like I have always done and nothing was there....anywhere.

You can redownload past purchases from iTunes.

Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free

Another wall.  It states I have no previously purchased music. :+(

I wonder if that has anything to do with me changing my password; I am significantly discouraged.  Thank you for trying to resolve my dilemma, wiclee.  At least I still have music on my ipod.  I am afraid to connect my ipod to my computer for fear iTunes will gobble up what is on my ipod and how can I possibly get on the treadmill without my ipod!?  Again, thank you.

If you have recently changed your password then you should sign out of your iTunes (menu STORE, Signout) then sign back in with your new passowrd and try again.

Still no luck, wiclee.  I am becoming despondent and you have been so nice to try to help me.  I appreciate it very much.

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.

You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software to copy from your ipod to your PC. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:
