XDCAM export - takes too long?

    Once you drop your first clip in a sequence there will be a message asking you whether you want to conform the latter to the former's settings. That should do it and no excessive rendering should be required. As for the mothership's requirements, nothing to say...

    I've told the powers that be from day one that mixing system and media drives is a no-no.  But if someone here could say why this is, in concrete terms, that would give me (a poor day-rate freelancer in a big media conglomeragte world)...

    This kinda caught my eye; If you're not on staff - and not necessarily there all the time - who is using the edit system when you're not? Is the computer a dedicated edit station? Has there been software installed lately? etc....   ???

    A system drive is in constant use, by the ... system. Writing logs, monitoring, updating... That takes away some of its juise but this is not so bad compared to the problems invited if it is also used as a media drive in an editing workflow due to thw wear and tear such drives suffer. Ivevitably, your media drives will fail faster and in your case this will take down the system too.

    The bigger problem with media on the system drive is file fragmentation...
