May 22, 2012 6:49 PM in response to firnueby firnue,Never mind, I take it back... the 'backup' thing, it doesn't work...
For some reason the 3G signal leaked into the spot -- that's why it can show signal bar

May 24, 2012 6:43 AM in response to abds2000by thevoice,My old iPhone was just perfect... of course the battery kept dischargin intermittently so I went to the new iPIG4.
Now I see that you folks have the same issue that I now have..
It will not connect to the network until I force the connection, "airplane mode on/off, power off, etc".
It does not matter what IOS that you have, it still happens.
Thanks to the person who directed me to the site that gets the week of manufacture... week 16 in my case.
I believe that APPLE has a serious issue with these new phones( probably software).
Guess what everyone, the problem is fixed in the iPIG5 (that's waht they will tell you).
When you pay premium prices for a smart phone one would expect to get one that actually works that way it should.. Is this too much to ask?

Jun 11, 2012 4:12 PM in response to abds2000by firnue,Is there Any Apple Developers following this thread who have tried iOS 6 beta?
I wonder if iOS 6 addresses the No Service/Searching.../Battery Drain issue.
Hopefuly somebody would be willing to share their experience with the new iOS.

Jun 12, 2012 5:08 AM in response to abds2000by ProjectVRD,I have found the Crash Logs for the iPhone regarding baseband on my Windows 7 PC, you can find them at:
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\iphonename\Baseband"
Here is some of the date contained in the files, and these files are created daily for my iPhone!

17:08:37 +0000 ST [rm] crash: state=Powering OffI have created a thread on my phone carrier's forum (O2 - UK), I strongly recommend that anyone reading this does the same so if you are with Orange then tell them, or if you are with AT&T then tell them! I asked O2 - UK if they can approach Apple themselves because we are getting nowhere with this here on the Apple forum.

Jun 15, 2012 11:50 PM in response to abds2000by Thierry10,I woke up this morning with the "searching....." notice and thought my phone died after rebooting, rebooting, switching on and off etc, tried all of the "ideas" in this forum.
Last thing I tried actually worked:
1. go to settings
2. go to general
3. go to reset
4. reset network settings
and voila .... my phone rebooted and connected to my carrier service.
Hope this helps anyone out there getting frustrated.

Jun 21, 2012 12:10 PM in response to Thierry10by www.sss.ie,Hi,
I am with the mobile phone provider Three Ireland. I have spoke to there tech support about the no service on the 4s. I explained about the 128k SIM card as per some postings on different websites. There tech support explained to me that they had seen the posts and spoke to Three UK about this and they can't find any link to support this thinking. As they explained to me the SIM card size is only relevant back in the days where we used the SIM cards to hold information like contacts and SMS messages. Three in the UK and Ireland use 64k from what he is telling me and not 128k cards. He wondered if this was an issue with iso5, personally my 4s is using iso6 fr the developers website but still I am having this issue, and yes it is only a beta version. So my findings are no further. Apple won't comment as usual on this or any other issue. So after all this talk no one is any wiser to the fact of why the no service issue happens. So Mr Apple please can you respond to all these nice people and tell us what the **** is going on? Please. Thank you.

Jun 25, 2012 2:57 PM in response to abds2000by Hooton,My solution for this was to goto settings then scroll down to location services then scroll down to system services. Then turn off everything except traffic compass and time zone. Resolved

Jun 26, 2012 11:10 AM in response to Hootonby ProjectVRD,Put the phone in your pocket and those fixes do nothing guys. I have tried every single fix posted all along this thread trail and they never work forever, just for a several hours until I need to make a call again. Now you need to complain to your network carrier and tell them enough is enough and make a formal complaint about getting No Service errors on your iPhone. Whoever you network carrier is, you have to complain to them now.

Jun 27, 2012 12:50 PM in response to ProjectVRDby gdjgarcia,The only thing that fixed my "No Service" message was to get rid of the iPhone. I had 4 iPhone 4S's and all of them had the "No Service" message. I now have a LG phone that has been flawless for months now. It isn't as nice as an iPhone, however, I can make calls and send/receive data when ever I need to! I wish I could have kept the iPhone but I had no faith that this issue would ever get resolved.

Jul 2, 2012 8:05 AM in response to shydigoby getinmiggy,I was able to turn airplane mode on/off to restore a network connection. Eventually, that stopped working too. I had to turn phone off/on. I feel your pain, as I think many more do. To my knowledge, there is not a solution to this.
