How do you currently have your iPod configured to sync TV Shows from under your iPod's TV Shows configuration tab in iTunes?
I assume you aren't getting any error messages when you try and sync them? To double check, right-> click on your iPod under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Reset Warnings. Then resync the device. Any error messages now?

My iPod is configured to automatically include "all episodes" of "all programmes"
I don't have any error messages. When I plug my iPod in it says 'syncing' but has not found the new programmes to sync.
I chose the option to Reset Warnings as suggested and after doing so my iPod automatically started to Sync. But this only lasted a few seconds because, once again, it didn't find anything new to sync.
I manually resynced anyway but once again it made no difference.

Yes, the shows play okay in iTunes
Not sure what generation I have. It's an 80gb that's about 3 years old. Excuse my ignorance.
I've just noticed that the shows I downloaded are HD quality. Would this make a difference? I have another show that is dual HD and SD which plays fine. But these two are HD only. If that is the problem is there any way round it?

Yes. These HD movies SHOULD be generating an error message when you try and sync them to your device (an iPod Classic by the sounds of it). That's neither here nor there now though. You'll want to remove these and redownload the Standard Definition (SD) versions.
To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select TV Shows and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available. You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

Okay - I followed your advice. But I think I might have deleted the HD versions a little too soon. After deleting them they no longer appear in my list of purchased TV programmes. So although I have removed the tick next to Download HD, I don't appear to have an option to re-download the SD version.
They do, however, appear in my account under my purchase history. I have restored them from my Recycle Bin but they still don't appear in my purchased TV programmes through iTunes store - but they do appear in my TV Programmes playlist.
I just noticed - if I re-tick Download HD When Available the shows re-appear in my Purchased item. I seem to be stuck in a catch - 22 situation.

It might be that they aren't available for redownload. Not all major television producers are on board with Apple and the ability to redownload content you have previously purchased at no cost.
Either way, there should still be a way for you to get access to the SD version without paying again. At this point, it might be best to contact iTunes support.

i have similar problem
I have iPad2
downloaded season 1 of Falling Skies (SD) and they load on to my iPad and run just fine.
downlaoded season 2 of Falling Skies (this time i purchased HD). They will play on my Air but will NOT load on my iPad 2. Usually when I purchase the HD version of a show I aslo get the SD version. Not so with Falling Skies. I bought HD and only got HD. There is nothing waiting in the queue to downaload. Is this an error with this particular show or are other shows doing a similar things now where if you want both SD and HD you ahve to buy both? I have purchased many other TV shows in HD and always got the SD version included.

Did you try this?
To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select TV Shows and remove the tick mark next toDownload HD when available. You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

thx.. i have a diffderent problem. The SD shows are not downloaded at all unless I go and get them. I needed to find out how to get them without payting again for SD. The trick is to wait for teh HD to complete and then the SD show can be accessed for download. Got a reply on another thread

This thread is old, but I was looking at it to help my own problems with TV show viewing - I just bought a season in SD from itunes this morning. I checked all the proper sync boxes under the device tab in itunes, but hadn't actually tried to play the shows in itunes yet - to anyone who's still having trouble with this, try playing the shows in itunes and see if you're required to authorize them with your itunes password. That was the problem, and as soon as I did that, they all synced to my ipod. I would have appreciated a little clearer guidance so I didn't waste so much time, but at least I can now do what I wanted to in the first place.
