Q: Is Anyone Having MacBook Pro Retina Display Graphics Issues?

So, I'm wondering if anyone has been having issues with their new MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display graphics? I've installed all the updates and ran the diagnostics. Nothing appears to be wrong, but most of my animations or motions on the computer aren't fluent and are choppy. And at least once a day I'll run into an issue like this: http://d.pr/i/elqX

Just wondering if any of you are running into this issue. It also struggles with Flash (but I assume that is just something Adobe has to update on their end).

Cheers!

I am trying to tell you politely, without being insulting, that you are dreaming.

Unless there is major policy change, your MacBook Pro will be sent to the depot, as it is now, for all major repairs. And now the list of minor repairs handled in the store is, well, replace the power adapter.

My 2.6GHz Retina gets really hot. I haven't seen the screen problem described here, but I have had it for two days and it's restarted itself twice. It's a wicked machine, but I'm starting to wonder about those delays.

So an open question for everyone. Are only machines that were available day 1 having these issues? Or have people who had to wait for more to be manufactured also having this issue?

I haven't had any image retention or graphics issues with mine. Nor is it running hot, restarting on its own, sluggish or any of the other issues reported. I haven't tried the USB 3.0 ports yet, but will tonight after picking up a USB 3.0 WD MyPassport drive to replace my 2.0 drive. Just lucky I guess.

Purchased mine on 6/20/2012 at a local Apple Store.

Got mine yesterday. Suffering restarts, heat and poor battery life. I wonder if this is anything to do with migration? I migrated using a Time Machine backup from the most recent MacBook Pro 17" 2.5GHz.

The times that I have tried migrating from two different models of Mac I have had very mixed results. Pro apps wouldn't work properly and some apps would close or lock the machine up altogether. I would back up your data and start fresh. Trust me, starting fresh feels really good once you do it.

And.... both USB 3.0 ports ARE 3.0

Looks like all the new Macs with Intel HD 4000 graphics are having major issues with Chrome including system freezes and kernal panics. http://www.macrumors.com/2012/06/29/google-chrome-causing-freezing-and-crashing- on-new-mac-notebooks/

Is anyone here having the graphics issues using Chrome as their main browser? It would probably be wise to switch to Safari or Firefox for now.

15" retina received from Shanghai after 3 day transit on June 21.

    production week 24 (June) 2012

Using firefox , word, excel, aperture- no issues re video.

I have had 3 kernel panics and restart while opening my lid.

I close all apps before closing the lid, so nothing should be 'running' while in sleep mode.

    No ghosting, not overheated.

Please open a case with apple , refer to this blog nr 4047428 to make them aware.

    oldmaster78-

I don't think yours is the same problem.

In my opinion, your "Blocky" problem ( shown with large black blockiness) may be different or more severe than the others reported here. I think you should pursue yours as a Hardware failure, and not just a bug.

Previous examples were all misplaced and duplicated rectangular blocks made up of other parts of the screen. Yours is the first to show black "Voids". It is also the first to show non-rectangular blocks, such as stair-steps. Yours also appears to have more movement, as you are the first to show a video with it blinking in and out.

I'm having the same problem.  My Macbook Pro 2012 Retina 2.7 512gig 16 gig locked up and crashed with diablo 3 3 times and anytime I watch a flash movie within crome.

I don't know about the Diablo issue but I do know that you have to upgrade to the veery latest version of Chrome to work on your MBP-R - there is a problem with the GPU and Chrome that is fixed in the latest update.

    Good luck,

I have started getting this issue today, literally in the last couple of hours.

I get all of the described issues from this thread (rendering issues, black blocks after unlocking from screen saver mode, dock rendering issues when hovering with genie effect).

This issue seems to have started when I changed the display settings to this:Screen Shot 2012-07-15 at 11.33.02.png

I have disabled automatic switching in energy saving prefs, and after about 10 minutes the issue seems to have subsided.

I disagree with having to do this; I would assume this is a hardware issue. Has anyone received a response from Apple about what they are planning to do about this? Its a bit annoying having spent time setting up my new machine only to have to send it back within 3 days of receiving it!
