Q: App Store's blank page - final solution

Hi,

There is simple solution for that case (forWindows 7, 64):

1. C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1

2. Right click

3. Uninstall

4. C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2

5. Right click

6. Install

7. Restart Windows

It's all

    Hi there,

are you sure this also fixes the problem when another 3rd party LSPs are hooked in?

I do not think most of our responses require entering if it is MacOS or Windows. I am thinking that if people do not recognize that C:\ is for Windows, then they probably should not be doing any step in this thread. Call me crazy.

And as update to my post earlier, the winsock (WINDOWS-sock) change has worked fine. No relapse to the blank iTunes apple store. Could not resist that windows comment above!

EDIT: I typed this on an iPad, but the Edit option is not available on iPad! Had to fix a few word issues.

For me the culprit was the "Speedbit" video accelorator in Real Player.  One I uninstalled that, everything is fine.

@Andrew Sweet, many thanks for your post!!! It solved my problem, at last.

I've been searching and trying like **** for 3 weeks. Real Player's Speedbit was interfering with Itunes and needless to say Apple's support ("Express Lane") was totally unhelpful and unconcerned.

    Cheers

The application speedbit that was installed by real player caused all sorts of issues on an Windows 7 system for me.  It negatively affected Firefox, IE, and itunes.   Itunes could not download firmware updates, had difficulty downloading 16gb of music to an ipod touch 64mb device.

Both firefox and itunes would consume enormous amounts of CPU time.  Firefox had issues with completing downloads of webpages.

I thought that I had a virus or spyware.

I uninstalled realplayer, rebooted, ran netsh winsock reset as an administrator, reboot and my system is back to normal.

I was actually contemplating an os/system reinstall.   I am running the system with raid duplicated drives.

This solution did not work for me. It actually stopped itues from loading. But the following solution worked.

You mean the "netsh winsock reset" worked for you?

That's good to hear - but that solution was reported earlier in this thread.

Its the one that disables third-party things that hook in the LSP chain.

Yes, "netsh winsock reset" worked. I am sure its been reported earlier, I missed it some how. After may frustating weeks and number of installs and re-installs finally I can see the store now.

I have meanwhile found a comment on one of those third party developers saying they gave up on using LSPs in their product because other companies just don't seem to able to do a proper job with THEIR stuff (like iTunes on Windows) - customers flooded them with complaints, but their programming was simply correct, it's the others who don't seem to care.

This is really not a quality predicate for a company such as Apple - they should be able to afford hiring a DOZEN Windows programmers who'd be able to use Winsocks and layered service providers properly. But no - they just don't care.

The solution to my problem was to unistall a third party app by Real Networks.    It reaked havoc with internet explorer. apple itunes, and firefox.

CPU usage went throught the roof.     Wen I got rid of rid of Real Player and it third part acceleration program,  my system started functioning quite nicely.

Initially my iTunes App Store home page was garbled. Later in the consecutive day, it went into blank page. I tried all the possible cases listed above in the e-mail threads. Most didn't work. Finally I tried accessing App Store in iTunes, and then killed the iTunes.exe process using Process viewer. That's it, when iTunes was launched after this, the iTunes App Store homepage seems recreated and worked fine!

For JerryFromKrakow, thank you for the inspiration.

For kevinfromleitchfield, perhaps I should add that:

I face the same problem, with Windows XP but the difference is now that I downloaded iTunes 10.7.0.21.

The problem is definitely on the Apple Mobile Device Support that's been hogging 50% of the CPU.

This is what I discovered, experimented and did a moment ago:

    1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache

    2. Go inside the folder Apple Mobile Device Support 6.0.0.59

    3. Right-click and Uninstall

    4. Go inside the folder Apple Mobile Device Support 4.0.0.97

    5. Right-click and Install

    Voila.

The iTunes 10.7.0.21 runs as smooth as silk.

Give it a try and feedback please?

    Cheers,

    MT
