Jun 17, 2011 12:32 AM in response to Henry Steppby MadisonP,Greetings Henry,
1. First make an iCal backup: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.Addressbook (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
Hope that helps.

Aug 6, 2011 11:02 AM in response to MadisonPby SeaCruz,This worked to correct my problem as well with some modification. I was getting incorrect auto-fill into iCal on one address in particular. The address was scanned as Rjchard, rather than Richard and changes to address book and 'previous address' in Mail had to affect on the iCal autofill function.
Rather than remove
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache
I opened them in TextWrangler, then searched/replaced rjc with ric and the problem was solved.
Thanks for the pointer!

Jan 16, 2012 4:53 PM in response to SeaCruzby Mr Picasso,@SeaCruz
I have been chasing this frustration of iCal auto-filling an invitee address that hasn't been used in years. Yet if I wasn't paying attention, the wrong person was invited to a meeting. I finally stopped the madness by doing what was suggested: 1. quit iCal; 2. edited the com.apple.ical file to delete the incorrect previous email address and all lines including the flanking <dict> and </dict> tags around the <key>emailaddressxxx</key> <dict>bunchof otherkeysandstrings</dict> block (I found the text by doing a search for the email address); and 3. deleting the Calendar cache file (I opened the Calendar Cache file to edit it and couldn't see a clear break point to delete the offending information, so I just deleted the whole file and restarted iCal.) iCal "updated all calendars" and looks good except it pulled in an old MobileMe calendar, which I deleted in iCal accounts because I'm now using iCloud.
Thank you for helping end an ongoing frustration and embarrassment.

Nov 19, 2012 9:00 AM in response to Alan Refaeliby msels,That's it, Alan!!! You did it! It works perfectly now. You don't need TextWrangler.
The only thing I would add is you may not find that com.apple.ical file in the main library. I found it in my Home>users>YourUserName>Library>Caches>com.apple.ical. Other than that, just do what Alan posted above and it fixed the problem.
Thank you so much!!

May 1, 2016 8:29 PM in response to Henry Steppby mistersquid,What worked for me on Mac OS X El Capitan (v10.11.4):
- Delete contents of ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup (old school, right?)
- Search and replace bad address with correct address in .ics files inside ~/Library/Calendars/<SERIAL_NUMBER>.calendar/Events/
- Search and replace bad address with correct address in .~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
- Search and replace bad address with correct address in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.Cale ndarAgent/Cache.db
- Search and replace bad address with correct address in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd/Data/Library/Recents/Recent s
- Search and replace bad address with correct address in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd/Data/Library/Recents/Recent s-wal
You'll probably have to adapt some of the paths to your own context. I chose to search and replace (using BBEdit) to limit any unintended consequences. I DO NOT ADVISE OUTRIGHT DELETING THESE FILES (or any files, for that matter) without first backing them up.
At the time of this response, this thread is for me Google's most highly ranked result for "remove autocomplete address mac calendar". I've cross-referenced this comment in one other thread.

I just discovered that the first step above actually deletes iOS backups done through iTunes.
If you decide to follow the above instructions, please proceed accordingly. In other words, I'm explicitly extending my warning TO NOT DELETE ANY FILES WITHOUT FIRST BACKING THEM UP to the first step I list.

For anyone following this thread, which was started almost 5 (FIVE) years ago...it is best to ignore any proposed solutions.
The advice in this thread should only be considered accurate for OS X Snow Leopard!

May 19, 2016 5:54 AM in response to mistersquidby armediu,Thanks mistersquid
We had this problem on OS X 10.10 an 10.11.3/ &4
I replaced all wrong addresses with a space and after restart the machine the calendar.app didn't showed me any wrong suggestions or addresses as participant anymore on an event. So your solution worked.
Would be great if there comes up an service as the window in the mail.app "Previous Recipients". So people can delete wrong or old addresses also in calendar.app

May 20, 2016 4:41 AM in response to mselsby armediu,Hi msels
I'm sorry to let you know but this workflow didn't worked on another machine where we had the problem too. Actually you need to change all the bad-addresses in every .ics file. And this seems to be unpossible when you have more than 2000 .ics-files and you have more than 12 OD-Users and 20 Mac Clients. To change all this would take many hours, too much...
Our next steps are trying to deactivate all delegates in cal.app, then remove the account and close the app. Delete the cache.db in .~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
and restart Apple Calendar. Then the Cal.app will be empty and we need to reconfigurate the account and their delegates in Cal.app in 1 Mac and then try to see if the bad address is still showing up.
If we have testet it, I will tell you know if it works or not.
