Hey all, so i recently discovered a mass of iTunes Temp Files in my iTunes folder.  A new one is created everytime I put on a song on itunes, and is about 38.6 mb per file.  When I first discovered this problem there were 327 of these files, totalling some number of GB's.  I've since deleted them, but they continue to come back.  It's preventing me from running Traktor Pro 2 because it doesn't know which iTunes library to use.  How do I stop them from being created?? I've looked at other forums, and they've mostly been catered towards Windows users.  I'm using a mid 2010 Macbook Pro 15", nothing special about it, but this problem has been going on for weeks.

Each time you play a file or update tag information the iTunes library needs to be updated. As far as I can tell this is done by copying all the information into a new, temporary copy of the database, then deleting the original file and renaming the temporary file to take its place. If "something" latches onto the temporary files iTunes can process them properly. Typically I'd suspect anti-virus software or the Sony VAIO content manager, but since this is a Mac neither should apply.

If might indicate the hard drive isn't as responsive as it is supposed to be, in which case make sure your backups are all up-to-date.

Run Disk Utility and run disk repair.
