I have an older iMac that I am using for word processing. The little battery inside has worn out and I need to replace it. I did this a long time ago- maybe 2006 and I can't find the instructions for how to open the computer and replace the battery. I don't know what kind of battery to get either. Does anyone have this info?

Thanks!

What model "older" iMac do you have - a G3 with a tray loading optical drive or a slot-loading drive?  Is your iMac the G4 model with a hemispherical base?  The directions for battery replacement vary according to model.  In any case, the internal battery is a 3.6-volt, ½AA lithium battery, which can be purchased from many online merchants or battery specialty retailers.
