What model "older" iMac do you have - a G3 with a tray loading optical drive or a slot-loading drive? Is your iMac the G4 model with a hemispherical base? The directions for battery replacement vary according to model. In any case, the internal battery is a 3.6-volt, ½AA lithium battery, which can be purchased from many online merchants or battery specialty retailers.
Hi Jeff- I did a little checking online and it is the 1/2 AA lithium battery I need. I found a place online that has it for sale, too. Radio Shack charges a fortune for it so I didn't want to go there. I found something here at discussions with info on changing the battery- I'm sorry I can't remember more about the model. It is a one piece clamshell type- all white. I remember from changing the battery before that it is not difficult- it is just awkward. If you have any tips to make it easier, if you can determine the iMac I have I would appreciate it. Thanks!
